Easton-Caruthers "Field of Dreams" Tournament

While it's always fun to play on the Easton-Caruthers "Field of Dreams," this year our Bullard-B 9-year-olds drew some tough teams to face. Especially tough since these were our very first tournament games of the year.

JUNE 1, 2010 -- BULLARD-B vs. HANFORD

So, in the game against Hanford, our two runs were scored by Kaden and Eric, both of whom also accounted for our three hits (Kaden a single in the 1st, Eric an RBI-single in the 1st, and Eric a double in the 2nd). Here's Eric's double:

Kaden and Zach were our pitchers against Hanford. Kaden started and threw 45 pitches in one inning. He faced 12 batters, allowed 8 runs (6 earned) on 6 hits, struck out 2 and walked 1. Zach threw 55 pitches in two innings. Zach faced 17 batters, allowed 9 runs (7 earned), struck out 1 and walked none.


JUNE 2, 2010 -- BULLARD-B vs. KINGSBURG
FINAL SCORE: KINGSBURG 5, BULLARD-B 3

In the game against Kingsburg, we scored three runs on six hits. Our runs were scored by Kaden (2) and John (1). Our hitters were: Kaden (2 singles), Connor (2 doubles -- one was a 2-RBI double!), Jalen (1 single), and Dylan (1 single). Here's Connor's 2-RBI double:


Our infield and outfield showed strong defense against Kingsburg. Here's John catching a ball hit to right field:

Brandon and Kaden were our pitchers against Kinsgburg. Brandon started and threw 56 pitches in three innings. He faced 15 batters, allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, struck out 2 and walked 2. Kaden threw 45 pitches in his three innings. Kaden faced 14 batters, allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, struck out 5 and walked 2.


JUNE 3, 2010 -- BULLARD-B vs. CENTRAL
FINAL SCORE: CENTRAL 22, BULLARD-B 2

In the game against Central, we scored 2 runs on 1 hit. Mateo scored on a walk, and Matt scored on Zach's sacrifice RBI. Kaden got the only hit in this game. Here it is:


We struggled on defense, with five errors, but we had our moments of greatness, too. Here's Connor catching a ball hit to left field:


Zach and Brandon pitched against Central. Zach started and threw 60 pitches in 2-1/3 innings. He faced 21 batters, allowed 13 runs (10 earned) on 8 hits, struck out 2 and walked 4. Brandon threw 43 pitches in 1-2/3 innings. Brandon faced 15 batters, allowed 9 runs (8 earned) on 7 hits, struck out none and walked 2.


JUNE 5, 2010 -- BULLARD-B vs. SIERRA
FINAL SCORE: BULLARD-B 16, SIERRA 9

Finally, against Sierra, we started having some fun. Against Sierra, we scored 16 runs on 10 hits. Our runs were scored by: Kaden (3), Eric (2), Ryan (2), Brandon (2), Zach, Connor, Jalen, John, Dylan, Vincent and Matt.

Our hitters were: Eric (an RBI-double and a single), Brandon (an RBI-double and a single), Zach (a 2-RBI-double), Kaden (an RBI-single), Matt (single), Mateo (single), Jonathan (single), and Vincent (single).

Jalen and Matt pitched against Sierra. Jalen threw 62 pitches in three innings. He faced 21 batters, allowed 7 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits, struck out 2, walked 3, and had 1 HBP. Matt threw 25 pitches in one inning. Matt faced 6 batters, allowed 2 runs on 1 hit, struck out 1 and walked 2.
